When Ashley Murrell got into a heated argument with her husband, Mikey, she told him to sleep on the couch. She was angry at him for working so much and worried about his health.
In the morning, she was horrified to find that Mikey had died in his sleep. Now, she’s warning others about not going to bed angry.
“He came home that night he was a mess, I have never seen him so exhausted,” Murrell told The Independent. “I couldn’t stand seeing him like that and I got angry.”
“I had a go at him and told him to sleep on the sofa which was stupid because I really just wanted him around more.” She told him to sleep on the couch.
In the morning, Murrell was ready to put the fight behind them but then she saw him lying on the couch. By the time she saw him, his body was already blue and cold.
“I walked over and touched him but he was cold and I jumped back and ran out the room,” Murrell said. In shock, she screamed and ran outside.
Murrell passed out and was carried back inside by her neighbors who rushed over to help. Then, the guilt set in.

“I still find it so hard to think that my last words to him were out of anger,” Murrell said. After everything, she found out why her husband was staying at work so long: to save up for an anniversary getaway to Prague.
It was concluded that Mikey died from choking in his sleep. They don’t really know why, but his wife thinks a weight-lifting back injury may have contributed to his death.
Now, she’s urging others to not go to bed in the middle of an argument. “Go kiss your loved ones and tell them you care,” she wrote for her late husband’s eulogy.
“Let them know you love them as they may not always be there. Say goodnight at bedtime and always kiss goodbye because one day, you never know, they may grow wings and fly.”
“Live everyday as if it’s your last and let go of bad things in the past. Our lives are too short and they go fast.”
