September 11, 2001. That’s the date that lingers on the mind of every American citizen who was around when the nation experienced the worst. People died – families, friends, loved ones. All decimated by the senseless action of heartless terrorists with no regard to human life. The victims of 9/11 will forever be in our memories. Even the Queen of England was deeply hurt.
When news broke out of what had happened to the twin towers and other targeted buildings, the Queen of England did what no one else ever did. During the change of guards at the Buckingham Palace, the Queen ordered the guards to play the US National Anthem, which they did quite well. Truly, the strong spirit of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was what every American needed at the time. The queen knew that!
Millions of people and nations across the world went out in support of America at that critical time, but this Queen’s unordinary act shone above all. It’s such an act, considering that she actually had to overrule protocol to get it done.
